Cherry Bean Coffeehouse & Roastery

The Story of the Cherry Bean

Welcome to the Cherrybean Gourmet Coffeehouse & Roastery in Salinas! Locally owned and operated by Todd & Peter, who believe in community and coffee and took a leap of faith 15 years ago to buy the business from the original owner. They never looked back and have built the operation into a thriving community of coffee lovers who frequent the Cherry Bean for its fresh-roasted beans, awesome brew bar, great coffee and high-octane expresso. This is the place where the locals come to meet and relax with a cup of joe. The Cherry Bean supports local artists by exhibiting their work and participating in the First Fridays Art Walk with art openings every month and live acoustic music. Stop in today and discover why the Cherry Bean is a local favorite!

The Steinbeck Conntection

In 1915 John Steinbeck's father bought a feed store in downtown Salinas. Located on the ground floor of the Masonic Lodge at 332 Main Street, the store struggled to make a profit. When making the investment, the senior Steinbeck didn't take into account the advent and popularity of the new automoblie which switched people from hay burners to gas-powered vehicles. The store went bankrupt in 1917.
